I've always heard horror stories about AOL and have never used it for any reason...Ben

I've used AOL for years, amazingly enough. Primarily as an email box. I actually load their fat client to get and store my email there, since I'd done so long before they had web-mail capability. And they didn't support Firefox, my browser of choice. Never really had trouble with it other than cleaning up their stuff they leave running.

Just checked, using Firefox, no problem.

After I tried them I never could find a way to completely uninstall their software. I ended up having to go through regedit and manually removing it. AOL is famous for hijacking your computer.

AOL is like the mafia. Once you are in the family it is hard to get out of.

I prefer not tying my email address to my DSL provider. If I have to change providers I do not want to have to change email addresses. That said, Any business email address should not have aol.com, yahoo.com, etc. It simply doesn't look professional. You can route the email from your business address to whatever provider you use.
