Question about cd writing speeds - 03-16-2008, 10:44 AM

I haven't had a need to burn cd's till now. My cd burner writes at 40x, so if I get blank cd's that have 52x will they be compatible? I believe they will be, but I want to make sure. And for the sake of caution, if I buy cd's at a speed slower than 40x, will they work on a 40x?

Thanks!

Hey Patrick,

For blank CDs that have a speed higher than your burner, they will be burned at the maximum speed of the burner. For CDs with a speed less than your burner, they will be burned at the maximum speed of the CD.

Hope this helps.
