Ok. I'm looking to buy my first Mac soon but concerned about a few things. I still want to be able to do editing on my PC when I want to, but Adobe doesn't offer a cross platform multiple license (I hope that made sense).
It looks like I'll have to buy a license just for my Mac so I can run Adobe CS.
Is there anyone in this situation and how did you deal with it.
I guess I can get these out the way also, my concern with fusion and parallels is the system will likely take a performance hit. And I don't know enough about crossover to know if it will do the job.
Thanks for any advice. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Seems I remember posts on this forum stating to call Adobe and let them know that you have a registered version of their software and you are moving to a different platform and they will furnish you with the appropriate registration number.

I'm looking at getting a laptop shortly, and am also considering a MacBook. I called Adobe over the weekend to get some clarification on this. - If you're dumping your Windows version and going just to Mac, they'll ship you the Mac version for just shipping costs. The caveot is that you'll need to sign a software destruction agreement stating that you've destroyed your Windows disk. They also log the serial number into their database just in case you try to use it again.
- If you want to go both ways (
), you can purchase the Mac version for the upgrade price.
Hope that helps.

That's true, but they will de-activate your previous computer. I switched over to Mac and upgraded from CS for pc to CS3 for mac. They did it for the regular $200 upgrade price but I had to sign a form saying that I would delete the CS from my pc and destroy the disk.

That sounds about right. The thing is, if you're going from CS3 for Windows to CS3 for Mac, they'll only charge shipping (something like $20) but you'll have to sign the form you destroy the Windows version.

Just install Windows via BootCamp on your Mac. Then you can run a 100% full blown Windows with CS3 on it. If you already own a computer with Windows on it (Vista or XP) then it should have a COA tag on it. If you aren't using that computer anymore, you can legally use the Windows COA (serial number) from the other computer when you install Winblows on your Mac. You just need a disc.
Once Winblows is on a 2nd partition for dual boot, you can also install VM Ware or Parallels and also run the same Windoze installation from within the Mac OS, just like a seperate program. Also, with VM Ware I'm pretty sure you can run the Windows version of CS3 on the Mac OS, without ever installing Windows at all

Unfortunately, there's no way around it. If you want to run both MacOS and Windows versions of CS3, you need two licenses. Or three (don't ask :-)
