Handel's Messiah - Easter - 03-18-2008, 05:16 PM

OK so saying this first and foremost, I know there is no "religious" topics on this site, so if this falls under that sorry (able)!

Just wanted to let anyone who might be interested know that I'm in a choir that will be performing parts of Handel's Messiah on Easter Sunday. So if you know the music and like it, or like Handel, or classical, or just music, or just need something good to do that night, anyone is welcome to come and it's free. just show up early to get a good seat.

So if you want to come, do, it will be good. If you don't thats fine. I'm just wanting to let those who might be interested know about it.
Please don't make this into a religious post that needs deleting.

The Wichita Falls symphony invites 4 opera performers for a production of this every year around Christmas...

Everyone should take the time to go hear this amazing piece of music performed live. I would equate it with going and seeing one of the National Parks....

'course, I was a band nerd.

Well... it's time to get back in the game.

You would love the Denton Bach Society's prefromance of it drawing on the talent a UNT.

We sang this in most choirs I've been a part of, from local church choirs, to collegiate choir to all-region/all-state HS choirs. It's a fun piece, especially in 16-20 parts

I'm an orch dork, and I have successfully played through the Messiah, and it is really something every musician and lover of any fine art should experience.

The past few years, we've done "Savior" instead, and on a completely unreligous stand point, it's much more modern in that it's style is much more upbeat and contrasting, than the Messiah. It also includes dance, so it's a pretty nice work.

Well, my band nerd-dom came in the form of being an all-region jazz trumpet player and all-state concert.

Yeah... I was a trumpet player so I'm sure that explains a lot.
