except I went through a house window
I locked myself out of the house today and tried to open my bedroom window that I thought was unlocked, so I pushed in and up and then somehow right through!
It shook me up, but luckily I only came out with a few cuts on my wrist and one on my neck.
Anyway, I just thought I would share that since I can laugh about it now and hopefully give someone else a smile with my stupidity or clumsiness (I haven't decided which one yet).

Oh the things we do to gain access to our homes :)...your not the only one who's remembered to keep a spare around the yard.
my story goes ...
I locked myself out of the house after just checking something in the yard....well I make it a great bad habbit to lock the door behind me...obviously my brain wasn't trained to bring a key after locking up....
so my only option was the broken bath room window to get in.
The window is high and narrow in size. Never the less I manage fit my thin short frame in the window ... but now I can't reach anything to pull myself down. There I am stuck resting my newly developing beer belly on the track of the window... as comfortable as that was I decided the towel bar would have to take my weight!
I reached for the bar and pull myself toward the floor. Just then I start to hear the bar loosen from the wall...I decided dry wall repair won't be on my things to do list... so with no where else to go... I land on the floor doing a hand stand...but for some reason the rest of my body wanted to come down crashing into the bath tub.
I think after that day i decided to walk around the house w/ the house keys in my pocket.

Don't feel to bad Monique, I lock myself IN my house!!! When we first got our house, I was painting my bedroom. I closed the bedroom door to paint behind it. My husband had run to get some of our stuff out of storage. When I closed the door, the door lock clicked. For some reason the previous owners reversed the knob and put the lock on the outside of the door. So I locked myself in my bedroom, with all the other doors open in the house!!!!! I have to climb out the window, that is about 5 ft from the floor, no easy to do when you only have a small step stool!!!
Sorry you got hurt a bit, that sucks, but just remember, there is always someone more clumsy than you are ;)

Close call for me...
I went for a bike ride with my daughter and didn't bring my keys, but no problem... my wife was home. Well actually, she ran to the grocery store while I was gone, locked the house, and promptly proceeded to lock her keys in the car in the grocery store parking lot. Now, I am at home, locked out with my daughter. I eventually get in by getting our spare key from a neighbor who watches our house and get the message from my wife on the phone and go rescue her, who finds the keys in her purse, and wasn't really locked out.
We have a keypad now.

I forgot my keys once and came home to a locked house... since the garge door's lock didn't exactly work, I broke into the garage, pulled out the dremel, ground down a saw blade into a pick and filed down a nail until it fit into the lock as a torque wrench... then over the next 40 mins I managed to learn how to pick a lock! Except I turned it the wrong way... oops? 15 mins later I had it picked again (in the correct dirrection) and was in the house. Of course, not 5 mins later my mom arrived with the keys. :-S

hide an extra key someplace in the back yard. a zip lock bag and a rock will work. don't tell anybody. (remember which rock!)

Ha I have done this once or twice...
we bought new door knobs for the new house after we bought it... and it was a nice set... the only thing is when you twist the little lock on the door knob, it is LOCKED on the outside, but you can still turn it from the inside...
I was home with the twins who were about 6 months ol..hubby was working at the hospital... and put the kids in the pack and play (they were settled) thought okay this is a good time to step out on the front porch and smoke real quick... yep you guessed it... the door was locked, and did not know it!
I hear the boys start to fuss... I go to walk in side and CRAP... I go around to the garage (that is alway normally open... ) nope not this TIME it was CLOSED and had the electric opener on it... so no getting that open...
walk around the house and remeber that one of the windows on the back porch had a broken latch that we have not repaired... the problem is... the window in about 1 foot tall and opened 6 inches wide!!! ummm did I mention the twins were only 6 months old!!!
lol... any how... I managed to squeeze my upper body in the window and pulled the kung fu fighter move... the STRETCH beyond all stretches to reach the lock... BINGO got it... I am in and the boys were just tired in that 5 mins of walking around they had managed to fall asleep!!!

Speaking of broken glass, I was getting my windshield replaced today after ten years of rock chips and a crack, when I overheard a lady talking to someone on her cell about her minivan. It seems her husband was talking to her and leaning on the door glass when it suddenly shattered into a thousand pieces.
She said it was the passenger window. Hmmm...when I looked at the guy replacing the glass, he was working on the driver's door window. At that point, I didn't know what to believe. :-)
