DFW among fastest-growing metro areas - 03-27-2008, 09:14 AM

I don't need a census to tell me that DFW is bursting at the seams. All I have to do is try to drive somewhere or just go to my local market. I've never seen so many people in one area.

I think Houston came in at #5.. DFW was #1 and San Antonio was #3....

I just want to know.... where are all these people getting jobs?

I cringe when I drive up IH-35N, or anywhere...and see all of those new apartment buildings going up!

Each apartment unit is going to put 2 more cars on roads that can't carry what is already there.

That is why I don't ride my bike any more. An air cooled machine in 20 mph freeway traffic. No Thanks!!! Too frustrating...I might do something crazy! I get frustrated enough in my car...

...and this morning gasoline is going up to $3.20 at the stations around my place...

Frisco is a perfect example of how fast things are building up...now in the outskirts of Tarrant and Dallas.
Last night driving by a set of Oil Rigs...I couldn't help to think of those old B/W pictures of the oil boom. How those old rigs and their vast numbers changed the landscape. If you look around DFW airport you can almost see the same thing, but in this era they are more spread apart.

Personally I believe we are headed for Southern Cali or Houston type of traffic snarls. Grrrrr!

One way to help soften today's and tomorrows traffic woes: Moped!

We just need brave politicians with foresight to enact legislation making it a safer way of travel and a part of an overall regional transportation plan.

We need a more comprehensive rail program that covers both Dallas and Tarrant counties better than what DART and the "T" does presently.

Costly, you bet. But taking a cue from an old GM commercial "We can pay it now at todays dollar rate or we can pay it later at tomorrows dollar rate." Either way we WILL PAY.

Someone needs to come up with some program for auto computers that will make cars replicate the movement of ANTS!!!

Ever watch ants moving from one place to another???
One long single line, all moving at a constant speed, evenly spaced apart, no bickering, no 1 finger salutes, no road rage, and they never crash into each other!!!

It'll make you rich, if you can do it!

It's all I can do just successfully navigating my way out of the bed each day.

There actually was a pilot program in California back in the mid-to-late nineties, that tested the use of magnets placed under the roadway and cars equipped with a magnetic device that once they entered the freeway, allowed the car speed etc., to be controlled by the magnetic roadway. Not too far from your suggestion. I haven't heard whether it is still being tested.
