Where can I create a video slideshow that would be in the form of a mpg, asf, asi, wmv or ogg from photo files ? I would like to be able to add music and text and all the other bells & whistles. It has to be able to be in one of those formats I mentioned for uploading, thanks.

If your looking for a program to purchase, check out ProShow Producer. I have used it to create some DVD slideshows and it has lots of bells and whistles. Not too sure about the formats you requested but it is a very complete program.

If your on Windows there is always Windows Movie Maker. Not great, but it might get the job done.

I second movie maker -- but one thing that I learned the first time I did it, was to make certaiin that your files are resized before trying to use them, otherwise it will take FOREVER for it to compile the video when you get it where you want it, and even then, it will take longer than you would expect.

It is easy to get the hang of, and the interfaces are pretty straight forward. You can even add in video clips in there as well.

I agree about the FREE windows movie maker... Not the most sophisticated.. but it works in a pinch. VERY easy to figure out... I made my first video in a few hours figuring it all out on my own. The 2nd one went much quicker..lol

Here is the first I did:

From a former videographer that has done oh too many of these: Don't go crazy with cheesy transitions. Simple with subtle movement, rotation and fades make for a much more sophisticated and elegant video.

I used a program called Photo to Movie a bunch back in the day... Pretty nice app that produces HQ output. Photodex (Proshow) app mentioned above is quite good too, as are many other simple NLEs...

Good luck!

Thanks guys! I did find the Movie Maker and went crazy uploading and adding titles, music etc. Then when I hit save it went up to over 7000 minutes to load! Looks like I am going to have to restart and shorten it up a bit, lol...

I tried to tell you that even if you had everything sized correctly, it would take longer than you thought.

7000 hours is only 116 hours. I don't understand why you wouldn't have 5 days to wait on it?

I have done a few photo videos with movie maker the time indicator is very rearly correct. It may say 7000 hours for about 20 min the it will jump to read 15 min and finsh 3 min later so don't go by the time indicator.
