Left my equipment after a photo shoot - 04-01-2008, 06:14 PM

i'm still kicking myself over this. So Sat night I'm covering an event and I was so ready to go that once I got paid I blurted for the door. It wasn't until sunday afternoon that I realized I had left my bag. In it were my
28-70 2.8
50mm 1.8
70-200 2.8
SB 600
extra battery
SD cards
ok so go on & let me hear it. The gear did happen to get picked up by a trustworthy source though I'll be getting it back tonight.

I'm too paranoid to leave anything behind. :-) Glad you're getting it back.

I more likely will forget about bringing my husband back home than my camera back!

Good for you that will have it back!

did you learn your lesson about leaving your stuff around?

I have a similar story, but mine involves a $4000 Video camea, $900 Bogen Video Tripod getting stolen by the DJ from a wedding that I shot...

I did the same thing a few years ago. I was doing an outdoor portrait in the garden center. I sat my bag down, and left it in a spot, while we moved around a bit. The bag was always in my sight, not far away.

After we were finished, I talked with the bride and mom. We started moseying toward then cars, as we talked, tripod on my shoulder.

When I got back to the studio, 20 minutes away, I realized I left it. It took about 2 seconds to get back.

"Looking for this?" I looked around and saw an older couple sitting on a bench. They had been there the whole time, watching the goings on.

"We saw you drive away, and the bag was still sitting where you first left it. I told Helen, 'He'll be back. Let's just rest a spell.'" I love honest people.

Oh, it was a bag of Hassy lenses and magazines.

I loose reflectors all the time. Its not like they are small either. And they never reappear. You are SO lucky someone grabbed them. I dont think insurance covers I forgot my stuff - they should have a rider for that. lol.

They do. Marsh Affinity covers ANY equipment you want to schedule. They also have a non-scheduled allowance. Problem is, their deductible is 100.00 per incident, depending on the reflector, that is almost what it costs.

Great gag, but the best way is to leave your keys attached to your bag. You'll never get too far without them.

I left my 100-400mm L lens on a bridge near Sparks, Texas. Anybody who had driven by would have seen it and picked it up. It took my 30 minutes to discover that I didn't have it followed by a mad 25 minute dash back to find it. It was sitting right where I left it. The bridge was so remote that I'm pretty certain that nobody had gone over it in the intervening hour.

Talk about a sigh of relief when I turned that last corner and spotted it up ahead!
