Don't get me wrong, if it is legitimate dyslexia (something that bothers me) - okay, but lately it just seems ridiculous. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

I hate text messaging lingo. I mean, when you have a real keyboard you can easily type real words. I also dislike bad grammer and bad spelling in written communication. I'm guilty of both from time to time, of course. But it is MUCH easier to read and understand someone when they write properly. When you are missing the non-verbal cues of communication, you need all the help you can get from proper spelling and grammer.
Just MHO. YMMV. LOL!!! | | | |

Improper use of
chose/choose
lose/loose
your/you're
all drive me nuts - but they're so commonly mis-used that when I see one being used properly I have to stop and re-orient my brain.

You old geezers....don't you know in some schools they quit teaching spelling? We have to be getting old complaining about generations getting lazy...
Why we I was younger we couldn't just hit the key return, we actually had to return the carriage!!!
I felt a little age coming on, when my NINE year old..(he's not exactly little any more) saw a typewriter at the Art Festival and asked what it was...EEEEKKK!!

This is a recurring theme.
It would help if people would just re-read what they typed.
How many times do you see a thread Title with a stupid spelling error ??
I don't think people know what spell check means.
I just cringe and go about my business with a "holier than thou" attitude ...

Or you can type in MSWord (or outlook, or any other wp app), use the spell and grammar check, then copy and paste. When I get on one of my lengthy soapbox diatribes, it's a good way to pre-save face......
Since I do a lot of writing, it's a bit of a pet peeve, but I can't get too indignant about it 'cause I'm as guilty as the next 2 or 3....

As an older guy and a former teacher, I am taken aback daily by the poor grammar and spelling on the net, even in serious writings.

Yeah, it makes me cringe occasionally. Especially since grammar was one of my strong subjects in school. Poor mechanics also bug me a little. However, I try to keep in mind that there are areas in which I'm weak and others are strong. It helps some. :-)

I have to stop myself from typing LOL from time to time when communicating with clients via e-mail. Makes me look young and unproffesional.

Then go back and type the correct letter. And that was just for one letter being wrong. Heaven help you if you wanted to change a whole word.
As long as I can make sense of the post, it doesn't bother me too much, but there have been a couple recently that I couldn't make sense of at all. Just had to go on to something else. And then the poster probably doesn't understand why they don't get any responses.
