Heh.. you're kidding, right? Abel's already on a hair trigger here. LOL

Watch the History Channel's most excellent show "The History of Sex" sometime if you want further proof along those lines.

If you read my original post I stated "I can't seem to find a Da Vinci or Michelangelo with sex acts and hands is private places. Maybe I missed that part of my art history classes on the masters." I never stated that none exist but left it open for those who have a rebuttal. Stoval offered out two titles that do not answer my comment.
Abel has asked for no links to be in this thread.

And Stovall's point (and mine) is that it doesn't have to be DaVinci or Michelangelo to be a Master.

But we aren't going to agree on the point that pornography has been around as long as art has been... and that many, many, many things that were once considered porn are not any longer....

As an aside, some of those works were created as porn then and still are now.... and there are some works that were not created as porn, but are considered now..... so the definitions of porn are fluid.

There's a Michaelangelo studio (one of his students did it) of Hercules wrestling D-something or other that is pretty explicit. The non-herc guy is grabbing herc's "3rd leg" during the through. Pretty graphic. In fact, for a time the statue was modified with plaster "robes" to cover the offending grasp.

Erotic maybe but definitely not to the levels of porn.

There have been loads of images displayed on the Human forum at TPF that are definitely erotic but were not deemed porn. I think you will find that those of us who found certain images pornographic in nature would all agree that images showing detailed sex acts (and you know exactly what is being referred to) were pornographic in nature.
One question, did you infact see the image in question that sparked this thread? Just wondering...

Nope..Need something else to read at work...This is much more interesting...

Ahh...I know the next topic should be how to ride the line but still be art!

Yeah its best to let this die...it ran it course and people for once had something deeper to say and did research etc to prove points. That is what made this thread worth the time to read.

But most people got hung up on the image that sparked this thread instead of sticking to the topic at hand...the image was a reference only so that others could view comment make suggestions etc.. But it was censored and rightfully so by the owner of this site...again, there are many images here that I would have considered to be porn but I respect the artist and let those be. I do not wish to see them censored or the artist stop sharing as we all may have made one member stop doing here, and wonder where is that line between art and porn?? Well the result of this thread and comments about it, have made for a much more tame PG setting...Again, remember the section we saw this in is 18+ or something like that...I am to old to have to worry about it..but the fact these images are not in the main stream and are behind closed doors...enter at your own risk, etc..etc...etc..you have to expect to see something that might not make you happy. I mean if we are really are worried about images of this type we should not really have this section at all..But that is not the request!

We have some very talented photographers here, and some soon to be very talented by being able to share and receive ‘constructive criticism’ as they learn and experiment and push the boundaries no matter what it is. So we should have a safe friendly atmosphere that we can all share and feel ok knowing that if you do go outside the line no matter what it is you are not going to have to worry about offending anyone.

Ok my pain meds are wearing off, so I am happy to say I am done here….

one last thing there where some pretty harsh jabs in what was to be an open minded discussion and little repsect from a few...hummm...

Able shut this thing down…kill it! hehe
