So I recently got promoted and now have moved into my office which is a good first step.
Now the problem....the walls are blank aside from my white board, yearly calendar for planning and a calendar I made from the tigers in Mckinney.
So now I am trying to decide what to go take pictures of to have blown up to put on the walls, work safe pictures.
The few Ideas I had were a couple of different crosses but figured that brought religion into the workplace. The other is since I work for Coca-Cola seeing if I could get permission to take pictures of our bottling lines and see how those come out but then that makes me think of work all the time. So maybe something that can take you away from the day to day grind and just makes you smile. Anyone have any Ideas?
I know it's a matter of personal taste and all just seeing what others would come up with. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

I have a variety in my place. Small 4x6s of family in nicer frames, some hanging 8x10s of scenery, tigers, and even train pics.
And a 20x30 poster of a sunset from a location that many recognize that is a good conversation starter. If I had space, I would have more posters, 20x30 and 24x36. Verticals work better in smaller places, imho.
as a rule, fewer usually work better than more.

I have a few 4x6's of my wife and friends on the desk and shelf.
May have to find a few areas around for some nice sunset pics that would be a nice touch. See proof I have been setting in a cube too long, didn't think of the obvious. =)

What are your hobbies aside from photography? I've got a few underwater photos on my walls from a couple of diving trips to Cozumel. Got any other animal pictures? Architecture? Flower macros? Cars? Sad clowns?

I have a 20 X 60 pano of Hanalei Bay pier, the bay dotted with sailboats and the mountains shrouded in clouds. Always gets comments and let's me tell people my wife took it. I'd put one of my photos up but I'm still looking for the "shot".
Prior to that, when I was deeply into golf I had a photograph/painting of the 11th hole at Augusta National, home of the Masters Tournament.
Lots of people put up college degrees or other educational accomplishments. I'm one but they're pretty boring even in a nice frame.

Ansel Adams images of Yosemite are readily available and in B&W don't distract too much. I have Half Dome and Yosemite Falls...

Maybe a neat bit of Coca Cola memorabilia advertising? I kept a framed and matted Saturday Evening Post ad for a 1928 Packard behind my desy.

Like having kids: if you wait 'til you are ready, you'll never have any kids!
Put up what you have now. They will inspire you to either do better or serve to convince you that you actually are pretty good and can still get better.

My wife practices traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. She says that photos of flowing water and mountains are always auspicious for an office.

Other hobbies are cigars, softball, cars - hmmm. Some ideas there, maybe not all work safe but could have some fun.
I like the Ansel Adams idea, can never go wrong with that.
I would put up my school stuff but that would just be a high school diploma so that wouldn't be so impressive. =)

Since you like photography, cars and work for Coca-Cola How about a series of photos of antique classic cars in front of classic Coca-Cola mural advertising? I've seen these Coke ads painted on the side of old buildings in Celina and other small towns. I think that would make for a nice series of photos with different cars. It would display your photographic skills, you interest in old cars and be kinda work related.

| Ok, go find that perfect tree and shoot it.
I like the idea of some behind the scenes shots of the production line. Even a blurry shot of the can or bottle filler or the closing machine would look pretty nice. That is as long as you don't give away any trade secrets. Sometimes that can get you in trouble.

You got promoted? Congrats!
My walls are blank too, never got the energy to put anything up. Been wanting to make large prints of my SF photos, but just haven't done it yet.
Could always get prints of your favorite locations..or for something really work safe (note the sarcasm), there's always the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
