The good ol' days...

Everytime I see this series of photos I laugh at what it must have looked like but I really was trying to be a nice guy. (I'm the cop in the photos - a long time ago!)

I had my uncle riding with me (a pro photographer at the time) and I pulled this guy over, determined that he had some minor traffic warrants and so I arrested him. Our procedure is to take them to the County jail where they can bail out if they have the cash to do so, if no cash they have to wait for someone to bail them out or see the judge. This guy said he had the money in his account but not on him and asked if I could take him to an ATM on the way to the County Jail so he could bail out. For some reason I decided to be a nice guy that night and this is how it unfolded.

I often wonder if someone was to see me if they thought I was shaking this guy down.

Yes, today some idiot would assume you were shaking him down, and the perp would probably see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and accuse you of just that. Good thing you had your own photographer.
