Quite obvious all of these places are "protected" somehow. There is a reason they are all located in a certain location (NY). And there is certainly a reason they are not prosecuted. Also, this isn't something new... They have all been around for at least 10 years that I personally know of.

Another thing...All of your magazines continue to take their money for advertising. They are WELL AWARE of the scam yet it doesn't matter to them.. It's all about the advertising buck. Those are the very same reasons I do not trust nor bother reading reviews or recommendations in these tabloids they call "Pop Photo", etc...

Pop Photo/Modern Photography quit taking the scumbags ads years ago. I wonder if anyone ever gets the deals they offer? Guido is probably behind the counter to make you an offer you can't refuse.

Really? Years ago? That is news to me. Of course, I haven't checked in awhile...they lost me awhile back. Then I decided to read their article on ISO noise comparisons... I don't use this word often, but I found the entire article "rubbish".

Anyway, that is good news that they don't accept $ from them any longer.

I'm curious about the legality of recording the phone call. I mean, don't you have to actually tell them that they are being recorded?

well, when you call they don't tell you absolutely, they say "may be monitored".

It depends on the state and in most states only 1 participant in the call has to know its being recorded. It's illegal if you listen into a call between 2 others without them knowing.

Not just them, but many others. It didn't seem to shrink the ad section too much, because B&H, Adorama and others expanded their ad space.

Typical Bait-and-Switch tactics used by this company and their associate "companies".
