Import into Illustrator and use live trace. You'll have to mess with the settings a bit, but generally works well.

Illustrator and Live Trace.
Its more normal to create it in Illustrator and be done
or then to import in to PS for Special Effects Non Vector
{thats how I created my avatar}.

Thank you Randy & EL for your suggestions.

I tried live trace but the results were not good. So I went ahead and recreated my logo in Illustrator. All is good!

In photoshop I have custom templates I created for business cards, t-shirts, signs, and vehicle advertisement. This brings me to my next question. How do I use the vector file in Photoshop?

when you open it in photoshop, just adjust the size(wxh) you need and make sure the resolution matches your template resolution. Hope this helps.

Yes, it is always best to create a logo in Illustrator if possible. Since it is vector based, the logo can be resized from 3 inches to 3 miles with no difference in visual quality.
If created in Photoshop, then the best you can do is scale a logo down. Because PS is pixel based, if you try to scale an image up (larger), the larger you scale up the worse the quality the image will get. Of course there are ways to clean it up after enlarging it, but it can be difficult and will never be a quality image.
