Most large events issue their own credentials. Usually, for press credentials you have to show that you are representing a bona fide media organization or that as a free-lancer you have lots of previous publications and having you there will be an advantage. Submit a request on letterhead or submit news clips. Back when I worked at newspapers, we had our own credentials, which would get us close to a police investigation, press conference, or high school sporting event. But for something larger, e.g., a pro sports event or political convention, you either need to have a previous working relationship with a major magazine or newspaper or submit a request ahead of time. If you don't have a relationship with a publication, maybe offer to provide some photos for someone in exchange for a credential request on their behalf. |
