Thanks for the tip. I'm just not sure I want to risk thousands of dollars of camera equipment on a $10 (or free) tripod.

thanks for the heads up! Even a cheap tripod works ok as a light stand for a speedlight.

Google won't pay for it if you are not a new Google checkout customer, but it's worth $10 for a light stand.

Wow, I just checked the tripod out and was very impressed to find that it's made of "space age aluminum"!

That's got to be a major selling point. After all, carbon fiber is so passe'.

Just got mine. Definitely not a pro grade tripod, but I will use it for my point and shoot. I was thinking about using as a light stand for a speedlight, but it seems to be too light weight even for that. I think if I put an umbrella on it, it may just blow away. Not bad for a freebie though.

It's got some pretty cool features my other tripod doesn't have.

I agree. I didn't get it free with Google checkout because I am already set up, andwas too lazy to register in my wife's name. Even for $10. it isn't too bad for a P&S or even MiniDV camcorder. It would be OK with a speedlight for indoors.

Thanks.

This has to be good enough for a Holga!

Edited: It arrived in 2 days. I couldn't believe it. It's good enough for any light duty, or to carry on a hike.
