Hey,

I want to thank everyone for their responses. After careful consideration, the wife and I have decided to purchase in Sugar Land. Once again, thank you everyone!!!!

Sugar Land to Galena Park? Ouch. I hope your shift is something like 0600 to 1400. If it's around normal business hours your commute is going to majorly stink.

Yeah, it's gonna be a haul, considering that my commute to work right now is a 7 minute walk. I have to inquire about my work hours, if I can work a flex schedule, that would be great.

I think jumping in the pool after a long drive will be worth it though, after living in an apartment for the last 7 years.

Work hours?? Flex schedule?? LOL!!

I worked as Captain of the Port (officer in charge) 24 hours on, every other day with a regular eight hour duty in between. It was great for family life (NOT). We did get to save people's lives and catch smugglers so it was worth it.

LOL, The Coast Guard has changed a lot in the last 15 years that I've been in (not always for the good). You would be surprised at the way things are done nowadays.

Sugarland is a good area. Pearland where I live and Friendswood to the east are nice also and more convenient to Galena Park. Clear Lake is a little closer still and another that's similar to Sugarland. You'd have options of some back ways in from those and at least 1/3 less distance each way.
