My life with Jeanne has moved to the end game... - 05-02-2008, 12:24 PM

We have converted our master bed room up stairs into a home hospice place. This way we can be together with our music, films, art, books and the cats. The doctors have given us 2-3 months but I think it will be sooner as she can no longer get out of bed.

I want to thank everyone here for their kind words and giving me a great sea to float these bottles out into.

At least we have time to plan the memorial service. It looks like it'll be based around Mozart's "Requiem" and the poems of Emily Dickinson and T.S. Elliot's "Four Quartets.'

And we find life still goes on...

I have NO words.
Not the same I know but I lost my father recently, at home (home hospice help) in UK. He however never talked of the end or had interest in such (at least you have the bravery/foresight/courage/time to do so).

Prayers and wishes!

Nick

Prayers for you and yours are in the air. May you be blessed with calm serenity, peace and strengh as you both go through this time of sweet rememberances and love. May your spiritual union go with your strength to bind you both close during these precious end times.
God Bless

Although it's not easy to loose a loved one, consider yourself blessed in knowing you have been given both the notice and the time to say your good byes - just as I was given before my father's passing. Hospitalized more than three hours away, I was lucky enough to be by his side in his time of passing.

There will be grief and tears but there will also be the memories in your mind for you to cherish till you are once again joined along side them.

May you find comfort in knowing you have friends among the forum standing beside you.

My thoughts are with you both. My college roommate just lost her dad a few weeks ago and I know how comforting it was for them all to have that home hospice environment and make him comfortable and surrounded by family and love at the end.

" Stovall "

This is sad news indeed. My thoughts will be with you.
Should there be anything that I can do, please get in touch.

I experienced this with my Constant Companions mom just two months ago.
I respect the dignity in your decisions.

always your friend

I never know what to say in times like this. Suffice to say you know what I'm thinking that I can't put into words.

Our doors are always open to you. Houston or Wood County. Stop by and visit a spell.

It can never be easy to lose someone so close to you. You don't know me, but I've dealt a lot with hospice in my line of work. May you both have peace at this difficult time. I also had the opportunity to care for my own father during his fight against lung cancer, it’s never an easy thing to do, but grace be with you and your loved ones during this time.

I've been trying to come up with something, but I'll just have to quote Wayne. Substitute Austin area in the quote below.

Stovall, give Jeanne a message from myself and Louanne. "Jeanne, we so appreciate you and your love for Stovall and all, and enjoyed you visiting our home, even for those short few minutes. We love you, Jeanne."

I'll be praying for you both (and your family). I know that this is a sad and difficult time but it can also be an amazing time with a loved one. Not an easy part of life, but one you will make it through.

Godspeed!
