What's Wrong With This Picture? - 05-05-2008, 10:26 PM

Ok.. this is in front of a church not far from my studio and its been driving me crazy ever since I first saw it months ago.... first one to identify what's wrong with it (other than the fact my sensor needs a serious cleaning) wins the world famous No Prize.

hard to tell, but it may be that the American flag is incorrectly flying at the same level as the others. It should always be the highest (when on American soil).

Is it the Texas flag? It can fly at the same height as the American flag, right?

That's what I was thinking as well.

Yeah - Texas flag should be flown at the same height as the american flag - and it looks like the American flag is in the center higher than the others

If none of the above, then perhaps that the American flag isn't centered in the circle.

Some people are close...

Its hard to tell in the 2-D photo... Description... the American flag is at the center of a half circle of the other flags and is higher than the others. Something like this:

F.....A.....F
...F.......F
.....F...F
.......F

So still taking guesses at what's wrong...

How about that big pole splitting the photo? Or all the others behind the flags?

Oh, and that is not a Texas flag.. all of the other flags are flags of other nations.... including, but not limited to, Japan, Israel, Myanmar, and Chile (that's the one that looks like the Texas flag).

Is this it?

11. When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace. The order of precedence for flags generally is National flags (US first, then others in alphabetical order in English), State (host state first, then others in the order of admission) and territories (Washington DC, Puerto Rico, etc.), Military (in order of establishment: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard), then other.
