Someone Out There With a Calibrated Monitor? - 05-07-2008, 02:20 PM

I need someone with a calibrated monitor to look at an image for me.. this guy's face was a bit splotchy on the day and he's complaining that the prints back from the printer looked all yellow and red.. I'm honestly not seeing it, so I was hoping to find someone who can look at it for me.

I didn't post it here for two reasons: I want to look at the full sized image so that we know compression is not the reason.. and I didn't want to post it here and get a million "looks fine on my non-calibrated monitor" responses that always seem to happen. LOL

Brad - sent you a quick fix in CS3 Raw.
I only saw yellow Blotch on right w my monitor.
It starts with your lights and or color wall and prob ends with whoever the printer is
{thats prob the cause of the red}.
You might balance your lights first monitor is a secondary issue
and good printers are always important.
You might want to shoot a standard color shoot as your first shoot w subject.

The photo in particular is all natural light, although it could be a reflection from a wall... but I think the real problem is trying to balance the red splotch he has between his eyebrows.. balancing that makes everything else take on a yellow cast. This same setup has been used with dozens of people and he is the first to have this odd yellow cast (and honestly, it doesn't look that dramatic to me).

As for printers, I don't have any control over that.. best I can do is make sure the file is the best it can be and then blame it on the printer if the physical copy doesn't look right.

Maybe a black and white would be in order here unless he has to have color.

By the way, I pulled the image in ACR and got rid of the yellow by moving the yellow saturation slider. Couldn't do anything with the pink tint though. Might have been able to in LR, I just didn't try.
