We stimulated the Economy - 05-08-2008, 03:37 PM

just a little today!!...lol

I know it is dumb.. but the kids are SOOOO EXCITED!!!!

any how.. we went to pet smart and got the boys a lizard habitat!! and bought one ANOLE Lizard... (common garden lizard here in the south!!!) they are EVERYWHERE here... the people there thought that it would be a GREAT starter pet for the kids.... so Micheal named his HANK!!!
here is the HABITAT!!!

and here is HANK!!!

then......

i was sitting here... at the computer... looking at all my accounts... and finalizing things here... and I SPOTTED a lizard... told the boys to get their shoes on and go get the bucket...

Micheal caught it... FIRST try... perfect then we were trying to meet at the end of the fence and it bit him... lmfao... he screamed like a girl and dropped it... I laughed so HARD!!!!!

anyways we looked for it and it was GONE... so we came in side and said maybe later!!! well about 10 mins later... I saw the same one... (I think) so we go back out there and chased this one all the way down the fence ... it bailed off the fence and started to head for the neighbors fence... hahaha Micheal caught him so I ran around the fence and we dropped him in the bucket... Mike was so proud of himself!!! and the lizard was FREAKING ou in the bucket... let him calm down a little... and Jason named it MAX... they are both in the habitat together and seem to be doing okay!!!...

I told mike that tomorrow we will go get some crickets to feed them.. he is really excited about that!!! I have already taken a few pics of HANK... and got a few of MAx.. but the ones of HANK turned out better!!! MAX is HUGE!!!! how funny would that be if MAX turned out to be MAXINE!!!!!???

so with out futher adue... meet MAX!!!.

NO COMMENTS on the pics...lol..... they are HARD to capture... and my hats off to those that get the GOOD macro's of these guys!!!

hubbs and I already discussed that... they will be moved to our room at night to sleep with us.. until the boys (4 years old) learn that they can not play with these guys... Hubbs wanted an iguana... but I told him to WAIT for that one

I had one and it got to be 3-4 feet long with TAIL... I had a fake ficus tree in the corner of the livingroom, and his habitat was an old console tv... that we took the tube out of... the front folded down and had a ramp.. we let him run loose in the apartment before hubbs and I got together!... he was the coolest thing!!! would lock him up for friends to come over or at night... I told hubbs that the boys have to learn how to take care of these first... then we can upgrade!!! hahah... my mom hated to come to my house when I was single... I had a 10ft albino burmese too!!! STEVE was his name... he was my bud!!!

My experience began with my daugter "winning" a goldfish at a school fair. Two years later we had two large saltwater aquariums (one at the office). Hundreds, no thousands of dollars later we gave away the fish and tanks to save what was left of our sanity!

We used to have a leopard gecko (it came with my wife). But it eventually got old having to buy crickets all the time, so we donated him to a wildlife center at a nearby school district. Our lizards around the house are brown and speckled, but we've got a lot of them. They find their own food, thankfully!

Let me know if you'd like a few Mediterranean geckos for the kids. Trust me, I've got plenty around the house.

I used to have an iguana. He got to be about 2 years old and about 3 ft long and he started getting real aggressive (only lizard in the house, thought I was a lizard, so he wanted to be the alpha male...this happens when you only have one male), so I had to give him up.

Instead of an iguana, try a bearded dragon. Coolest and most chill lizards I've ever owned. Kinda expensive ($70 for the babies), but they are awesome and so tame. And they come in awesome colors. Mine was a sand color with purple stripes on his back. Not to mention they look really cool.

I will get another one soon, just need to save up some cash for a huge tank.

You have to feed them alot when they're young, but I always fed mine a max of twice a day. When they get older you can feed them like once every other day or so. I usually still fed mine about once a day to keep his veggies fresh.

And watching them eat crickets is entertaining. My beardie was a lazy bum until i dropped those crickets in. Then he was real sneaky, then BAM like a rocket he was on the other side of the cage.

Maaaaaaaannn, I want one now.
