I have shot about 300...every year since 2001 ish at least 3 a year...In the beginning I would shoot families, but now I just shoot one as they are standing there getting ready and then a few in sequence as they are going under. Sometimes a shot after during all the hugging...but especially women don't like those. Of course men don't care.

Our baptisms are considered a party...so we do them at peoples pools. Instead of individual photos, I am posting something I did for the churchs 10 year anniversary. As you can see, there is a variety of photos at a variety of times of days. Maybe not the best of photography....

There are different types of baptisms also. If you are talking about sprinkling babies, those can be formal ceremonies. i grew up Catholic, but I now belong to the Church of Christ. Two completely different types of baptism.

I just did one on corpus for my sis.....very dark church.

Nothing professional, they mostly wanted pics after the fact with the god parents and family. It was Episcopalian.

ive been hired to do a Lutheran baptism. they did not allow flash photography, so i sat in the balcony with a zoom and shot at 2.8 or lower with a high ISO.
once service was over, the priest/preacher (not sure what they are in Lutheran churches) allowed us to use flash for the formals.

i shot a lot of details of the church as well. but that was more for me.. they didnt ask me to.

Yes it is important to mention what kind!! Mine is way too different than the one you will be doing. I just recently saw a post of someone doing a baptism similar to the setting you will be in. The girl had adoreable little rain boots on...
