For me, I'm not willing to put in those kind of hours. I quit a job in November to take one that's close to home so that I wouldn't have to make the daily commute from the Sugarland area to the Galleria. I cut my commute from 30 miles RT to 7 RT. I took a 6% paycut but it's been worth it. And, with the price of gas and the value I place on my time, I think I'm coming out ahead now. LOL
Are the number of hours you quoted as what you normally work back when there was a second person helping you? If so, then you will need to tack on some additional hours if it's just you doing it all. |
my commute is a null issue... my office is only about 6 minutes from my house.. to $20 in gas lasts me about 3 weeks.... lucky me, huh?
the hours per person is a constant variable.. I work more than anyone else because of my QC respondsibilities and other tasks...
this department has seen 5 FTE before... now, we hire just as many employees for the field as then, but with less overhead... HR/Hiring is ALL overhead payroll... you just can't avoid it. I handle all payroll for my department as well.. my time, I can get away with charging to a job site so the OT and hours I work doesn't matter to the departments overhead...
are they wanting no OH cost department? maybe... but what a s****y way of getting it done.
oh.. and my quality of life is....meh... whatever kinda thing. I have no kids, i'm getting a divorce (not related to my job) and I rarely go out... mostly out of choice... I'd rather spend my money on photo stuff than other crap.
I've been in this office for 2 years now... logged in about 3800 hours in that time.... I love coming to work at 5am and going home 8pm... I can do it 5,6 days a week..
