Where to spend the weekend of May 24-25 ? (DFW area) - 05-19-2008, 12:48 PM

I was looking at my calendar and discovered that a most unusual situation has occurred.
This weekend (May 24-25) I have nothing booked, scheduled or planned. My sig other is out of town until Monday afternoon.
I've looked at the workshop schedule (zilch).
Airshow schedule (zilch).

I don't want to spend two days driving somewhere and back.
Does anyone have any suggestions for something different in the DFW area, or within a few hours driving time ?

I like auto racing, water sports, airplanes, naked women, beautiful scenery.

I'm sure there is something that will occur to me between now and then, but I'm open to ideas from my TPF friends.

my family and I are actually going to Dallas for Memorial Day weekend (this weekend for those who missed it on their calendars) and we're planning to hit the aquarium one day, and we are looking at maybe the zoo or one of the museums. We're visitng a friend so some of it will depend on their suggestions too.

Ken - It would be boring photographing you doing your yard work.
Richard - Aquarium isn't a bad idea.
John - It's the part "that you can afford" that causes me problems.

Tom, check the papers for what day but the local Ft Worth reenactors do some thing at the old cemetary every year. Memorial for the founders of the Fort. Generally involves a cannon and others there. Might be on Monday though.

I just booked a last minute E-session in Ft. Worth for Saturday morning, so that helps take up some time. But, it means my travels will be a bit closer to home.

I've never been to Tyler, Tx. What's going on down there this time of year ??

Restland has annual Memorial Day event on Monday, at 1 p.m. They usually have folks in old military uniforms & a fly-over. There's also a big military display across the street with helicoptors, jeeps and stuff.

I think we have a winner ! I enjoyed SF when I went a couple of years ago. I think this is what I'll be doing on Sunday. i.e. having fun and baking in the sun.

Spend it the Mansion On Turtle Creek. Perfect place for some down time....
