So I got a chance to watch the Fantasic Four Sequel "Rise of the Silver Surfer" and well......
it sucked
So I got to thinking, what other movies started out good with their first installment, but then screwed up the sequel???
The 2nd Indiana Jones was not as good as the 1st and 3rd
the 3rd and 4th Batman movies (after Michael Keaton) were jokes
any others???? | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

IMO, 99% of sequels suck.
Except for Xmen2. (but Xmen 3 sucked because it was a different director ><)
And im pretty upset at the recent Resident Evil: 3. :(

Dont forget Tremors! Classic example of sequel suckage... Tremors 1 was greatness (although quite cheesy in its own right)... then they did a 2... and then a 3... and THEN a 4th as a Prequel?
Also on the list would be ANY Disney sequel...

Now, don't get me wrong here.. I'm a die-hard Star Wars junkie. I still have plenty of memorabilia from my childhood in the back of my closet that I refuse to sell or throw away. Heck, sometimes I still have dreams at night of being in the various worlds of Star Wars :P
But the recent Episodes I-III didn't do the Original Trilogy justice. The entire installment felt rushed and half-assed to me. The character developments didn't feel complete. In the original movies, I really felt like I got to know the characters. But in the recent ones, the character personalities and roles were consistent and the plots felt very rushed. It just felt like Lucas wanted to add a larger stack of cash to his empire. I was thoroughly disappointed with the recent three. Alas, I'm sad to say I even lost a bit of respect for Star Wars and Lucas himself after viewing them.
I know they're not technically sequels, but they were produced after the originals.

And quite right about Disney. Or any other great childhood original movie turned sequel. Ie, The Brave Little Toaster. or The Land Before Time.... what are they on now, number 15?? I really have no idea.

The only sequel I remember being superior to the original was "The Road Warrior" which was a step up from "Mad Max"...Ben

Ummmm I would have to say Spidy 2 and 3 sucked!!! I can remember laughing out loud in the theater during 3. It was the big dramatic break up scene on the bridge, I just could not help it, the acting was SOOOOO bad.

Superior Sequels is a much shorter list...
Superman 2 (Christopher Reeve) was better than the first.
Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan was a dramatic improvement over the snoozer that was Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Empire Strikes Back had it hands down over Star Wars
