USPS Rant - 06-01-2008, 03:46 AM

We all read and know about the feeling of the wait. You know, waiting for a package to arrive and checking online several times a day to see the status.

I hate when I buy things online off ebay and they ship USPS. Case in point, I bought my wife a camera to take on our beach trip. With the holiday last Monday, we knew it was going to take a few extra days. Well we get a "tracking number" from our buyer. Why call it that when you cant track it. The only time it gets update, and this is from the USPS site is, when the carrier makes delivery or leaves notice in the mailbox. So I am already anxious at this point.

Well today, I checked and it says a notice has been left in our mailbox that they were unable to deliver. We live in an apartment and someone was home all day (my wife stay at home mom). They dont make contact anymore with you at your home, they didnt attempt to delivery this package. Now I gotta wait till Monday morning and get our new toy.

That is all. Just wanted to vent some. Next time I will look for a shipper that uses UPS or FedEX only. Thanks for listening.

Every time my regular carrier is off, I get the same "left a notice" routine, even though my desk is <12' from the front door, and there is never a notice. After complaining about this for 18 months, a new postmaster finally steppud up to the plate and resolved the problem. Overall, I like USPS, but they all have their issues.

I feel your pain. I have gone to a PO Box so that there is no delivery problem.
I just have to get to the PO while they are open, stand in line, and hope that the package that didn't fit in the box isn't a free AOL CD !!

I've been in my current apt for a number of years, and I finally had to give up complaining about the postal service sucking. This is the first time I've lived in an apt and the mail man, I'm sorry mail delivery person, has refused to go past the metal boxes. I've had boxes of perishable items sitting in what amounts to a coat closet over the weekend because they refuse to actually knock on doors at this location. I would complain and they'd say "oh we'll look into it and address the situation" and never hear from them again.

I normally like USPS, but I strongly dislike this current office that services us.

I feel your pain. If I have a choice in the matter I'll pay for FedEx. I can easily track shipments, and if it's something that requires a signature and no one is home the FedEx depot isn't far away and I can go pick it up.
