What bluray player did you go with? I read review after review and came to the conclusion that for the money, the PS3 was the best player.

I had just bought Wii & X-Box for my sons B-day a week prior. All I could imagine was $$$ for more PS3 games, lol.. Buy the way, have you tried Wii ? It's amazing and the golf is exactly how i play in real life. I still have to play my slice to get on the green in 2, lol..

Yes, The Wii and Xbox are at my house along with the PS3. I'm not a big gamer so I didn't get the PS3 for the games. I bought a couple CHEAP games but if I play it is usually a downloaded trial of something.

I am with you on the non-gamer, but the Wii is the first one I really enjoy! I just bought a WWII plane game that you fly around and bomb bridges & tanks from Hittler's army! Way cool..

When I saw the title of this thread I almost lost my Dr. Pepper hahaha. I guess I should have expected something like this considering it's a forum about cameras.
Yeah, I think everyone I know has a PS3 which is run on Blu-ray. The PS3 costs about the same as a Blu-ray player and you get a lot more on top. It is the new wake of the future I predict. Sony made a good choice by using Bu-Ray, as HD-dvd has pretty much died already.

It's true blu-ray is impressive and EXPENSIVE!! I agree that the ps3 is the best way to go since you get more out of it..
Think about when standard DVD came out, people could not afford the players and dvd's and blu-ray is running into the same problem only they are charging even more. Not to mention you need a damn good TV on top of the blu-ray player and blu-ray movies.
Toshiba however has something up their sleeves. Quote:
At the time of the exit announcement. Toshiba executives hinted that it would soon release a standard-def DVD player that could compete with Blu-ray rather than endorse its rival.
Yomiuri Shimbun reports that the new Toshiba upconverter player will be launched within the next six months and will carry a smaller price tag than current Blu-ray models.

I say 1DsMark3.. hehe
Actually, darn blueray is really only what? Something like 4mpix image? (just guessing)..
I need a new TV. I have a PS3, but an old tube type HDTV hooked up to it. Just waiting on the Samsung LED Based LCD 1080P to come out later this year...Then I may pull the trigger.

I agree. We have two BR players hooked up to a 46" 120hz LCD and a 58" plasma. Awesome stuff. Can't watch anything that's not HD anymore!

part of what makes the PS3 the best player on the market is that as the format finally starts to settle down, the PS3 firmware will be updated via the internet without anything other than a push of a button. Some of the other players can't say that.

Now you got me going freaking nuts looking for the paperwork from the HDTV & BR, I put them together in a box to look at later if need be and my wife hid them on me ? It's a little game she likes to pull on me ALL the time! I imagine one of the two is 120hz, whatever that is ? All I know it's better than anything I have ever owned, lol.. It's all Blockbusters fault, when I stand in line they have that great HDTV playing BR while you wait, could not stand it any longer, lol..
