We are flying in friday night, and staying till sunday afternoon to look at some lofts downtown. The better half is going for her doctorate at the medcenter in september, and we need to decide where we want to live. Anyone live in this area? I am sure crime is a bit higher in this area, but any advise or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to keep her close to school or the light rail.

Are these rental or purchase? It's not on the fright rail but around Kirby/Holcombe is a pretty nice area with a lot that's similar to some of the renovated downtown stuff, both from nice purchase stuff and rentals. It's as close to the med center and closer depending on exact location. Some of the near southwest area is not bad either and not too different in distance but again, no fright rail.

There are a couple of these in the actual Med Center area that are almost brand new. There are a couple that are just east of Minute Maid Park. They look REALLY nice. Not sure what the price is.

There's a fairly new set near the Hwy 59-610 interchange on the SE side of town.

Happy hunting!

no kidding? which school is she attending? i'm in the doctorate program at bcm currently.

i would recommend finding a place in the med center first with only a 3 month contract, and during those 3 months, take your time to figure out which part of town you would enjoy living in the most. finding an apartment in the med center should be no problem at all.
