Free audio editor for Mac - 06-04-2008, 05:55 PM

does anyone know of a good, free audio editor for Mac? I just want to cut out clips from a personal audio recorder (Olympus) to add to a photo montage. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I've used audacity in the past with pretty good results. It's as good as they get and it's free!

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I'd go with the 1.3.5 version as I've had no problems with it so far and it's way nicer than the 1.2 version.

Well, GB doesn't like the WMA format for some reason. Is there a platform issue here (I use Mac)? I need to take a closer look at GB when I get home. I've always thought that was a cool program, but just no practical use for me.

You're using a Windows codec (Windows Media Audio) on a mac, which probably explains your compatibility problems. I'd suggest trying to use a different recording format (like mp3 or wav) for future recordings if you want to use your mac to edit them.

Thanks. I will see if I can switch formats within the recorder. I was aware of the WMA acronym. Just thought GB would recognize WMA or that maybe a plugin would pop up.
