Not something that happens everyday:

"Freelance photographer Kelly Fajack claims in a lawsuit that one of his photos was reproduced without his permission on a currency note circulating in the central African nation of Burundi."

There's a comparison picture there and it's pretty obvious. Speaking of giving credit where it's due, I got there from here:

I'd recommend gathering up all the evidence and then putting it in a safe place ( vault ).

This one might not be hard to prove damages ....

I checked my sources for calculating the charge for commercial use of a photo, but there is
no box to check for " currency " and the circulation box doesn't hold enough digits.

Depending on the financial strenght of the country, I might require something a little more fungible.

I love this quote, "The situation is somewhat delicate given that the lawsuit involves a foreign government, and an impoverished one at that."

I doubt the government is impoverished, the people are, but not the government. I'm glad he is taking them to task. The reality is that he probably won't get any money out of them as collecting would be next to impossible, but it certainly sends another message in the fight against copyright infringement.

I can't believe it... Doesn't anyone monitor this stuff? I mean, what you see an image and decide it should be printed on your currency and no one asks "who took this picture?".
