He seems to think whatever we do, as long as we rely on OPEC, they'll keep production levels to match. For instance, if we drill 100mil new barrels ourselves, they'll either cut their production that much or sell elsewhere to match...thus keeping the prices about the same. I tend to disagree that that will affect us 1:1 but there is some validity to his argument. To be honest, I hate discussing it with my Dad. We have differing political views and it often ends up in a futile argument about secret Cheney meetings with the oil company exec to artificially inflate prices in order to get congress to allow drilling in America, etc... LOL

What is a reasonable ROI? 4%? 8%? That's a pretty reasonable profit don't you think. (Can your photography business continue on a 4%-8% profit?) Think about it, all you have to do is risk EVERYTHING. Or would you rather make a nice RON? (That's RETURN ON NOTHING) Because that's what the government gets for doing nothing. They don't drill, refine, explore, or take any risk. Yet while sitting in their big easy chairs grilling oil company execs about their "huge profits" that same Congress was reaping much more in taxes.

The headlines read $10.9 BILLION PROFIT, yet where is the article about the $29 BILLION in taxes collected for the same time period?
