Frankfurt Germany photo op help - 06-11-2008, 11:02 AM

I headed to SA next week via Frankfurt and back through London. I have all the things I could possibly want to shoot lined up for London, but Frankfurt is an entirely different story. I know there is a Roman fort close by and there are some good buildings in the old town square, but what else would be fun to shoot in Frankfurt? Does anyone know of any really kewl buildings or gardens to shoot there? Any spectacular views from a location you know of? I'm pretty open to suggestions, with the caveat that my 24 yo daughter will be with me and it would be good if she'd be interested in it also. As Sgt. Schultz would say, "I know nothing." about the Frankfurt area.

I lived there a little over 15 years ago, but there is all sorts of Churches downtown. There's also a lot of castles on the banks of Rhein river. You can go up one side and down the other stopping at all sorts of them.

I'd recommend trying to find Frankfurt High School, on what used to be the Abrahms Complex. It's a local school now, but used to be Frankfurt American High School...it's where I spent 2 years and loved every day of it :D....but that's just me being selfish:D

I don't really know anything about Frankfurt, but if you fly me out, I'll hold a reflector for you!

Richard, thanks for the castle idea. Is this something you can do by public transportation? We'll be using that as opposed to renting a car.

Jenny, I've several offers similar to that. Are you small enough to fit in my suitcase?

Ray I'm sure you could take a cab to the various castles, if you're staying in a hotel maybe check at the front desk for a tour? We were stationed there so of course my parents drove. The benefit of that being that we got to hit the ones we wanted and not the ones the tour wanted us to. There's also iirc a statue of the Laurelei or mermaid or something at some point. It was over 15 years ago, and I was just a teenager in HS so you'll have to forgive me :D.

I know that there's a lot of churches in the downtown area, and some are just "ruins" they're nothing more than the foundations etc that are left from bombing and the churches/buildings were never rebuilt.
