I'm looking for a custom silver smith in the central Texas area to make a custom mounting for a large cabachon amethyst ring.

I have a few pieces by Robert L. Straight that I really like. He's north of Houston in Conroe - might be too far for you. He specializes in nautical themes, but does do custom work.

I don't know of a specific person, but I do know that Kubes in Fort Worth does custom work. It's a family run place that's been right near TCU for a long time now (over 60years, I think). Worth a call - http://kubesjewelers.com/
