Not only is this a Photoshopped image whomever wrote the byline for it needs to either go back to byline school or something. "The two will be pair together" dont think many editors would let that one slide but I may be wrong..

Is there any chance of this being a non manipulated photo?

If Phil's elbow is behind and not in front of the torso, then it could be just an effect of extreme compression of a telephoto lens (say a 600 with 2x extender)

I don't know -- I just think that it would be aggregious to run a photo like this if it is chopped.

Dobick - BINGO! At first I thought it was PS as well, but it appears on Getty's site as a stock image. I guess its just some weird abnormality from the focal length and angle of the photo. Now it is always possible it was PS before it was uploaded?

Notice that the Washington Post has it listed as an AP photo. I doubt he was shooting a major event for both AP and Getty.

It is a FAKE stock image then . . . otherwise, how does the sun appear to be shining on the right side of Phil's face and the left side of Tigers???

If you look at the rest of the posts, you'd be surprised what makes it into print.

oh my that is SOOO fake...

I dont care how you twist and tweak the possibilities... that if could be extreme compression...

the onlookers hand is in focus while his face and the rest of him is not...
some one mentioned the sun shining in different direction...
the onlookers elbow is in front of tiger while tigers club is in front of the other mans face...
Look at the left side of Milkeson it is too perfct... he is CUT out!
in the second photoo look at the feet... I don't think that the club would be on the green and milkeson's feet are hidden in taller grass.. (could be I dont watch golf) just looks very odd!!!

wow... I can not believe that this made it to PRINT...

Actually the Photo Editor (Chris Combs) has indicated it is a legit photo. If you look at this page http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Se...rc=standard#35 you'll see some similar images that don't have the strange effect, so I'd agree that this is a legit photo with a strange appearance. If you look at the original above you'll notice they both have sunlight reflecting off their right cheeks. The fact that Mikelson's right hand is in focus while his body is not is normal dof, his hand is probably 2 fee from his body while resting on his club.

Here's a different view: http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/De...|0&id=71675033

I have to say that when I first saw the photo I thought for sure it was Photoshopped, but I have since change my mind. Since he shot this photo I see no reason why he'd need to doctor another, so I'll stick to this being a legit photo.

I didn't think to look for the obvious -- but that is not phil's club that "phil" is holding.

Mikelson is a lefty and that is a right handed driver.

Doh!

Do golf pros usually stand that close to each other when they're teeing off? (I have no idea, don't watch golf)

Ok.. Here is my take.

It's legit.

1. The sun is on both sides of each face.
2. The driver that Phil is holding is turned/rotated...ie, he is leaning on it and the shaft is actually closest to the camera.
3. The compression of the lens makes them appear much closer together than reality
4. The crazy coincidence of the arch in Tiger's body along with Phil's arms tucking perfect along with compression makes it an optical illusion. It is actually behind Tiger even though it doesn't appear to be.

Although at first glance I laughed and said fake. After careful examination, I think it's legit.
