OMG - look at what prop I found today!!!!! - 06-13-2008, 02:40 PM

The other day I drove by this little place thats out hwy90 west that looks kinda like a flea/junk market yard. I saw this little wooden wagon that I thought would be perfect for some pics I wanna do of the grandsons.

So I went out there today expecting to spend $20-ish.

Well - then I started to wander... lol

I ended up with the wagon, a nice blue/white speckled enamel bowl (good size for littlest grandson to sit in for pic), a sock monkey (story behind that), a little 6" copper pot for our bedroom.....

But the real finds were this little carved wood bench and and tattered Upholstered Settee .

The fabric is pretty rough - but I got EVERYTHING for $300! I'm not a regular to flea markets or estate sale sand I may have overpaid - but i don't care! I have been looking for one of these settee's for a while. It's Cherry wood and other than a scuff here or there - the wood is solid and in great shape!

Now you just need a tattered model with a tattered wedding dress and a shattered look on her face to go with it.

That would be perfect....

I love old furniture like that (well, really, antique looking things in general). I want to get a couch like that, but the hubby thinks it's "grandpa furniture"

Sean - I used to live out in Castroville and would drive by everyday wondering what all was there - but never stopped.... Glad I did today!!! I almost didn't see it. It was out on the front porch under about 2 feet of other "stuff". We put it in the garage and unloaded about half a can of lysol on it - just in case... lol

And Aaron was a lil ambivilent about it's condition... but I explained that I could use it in it's current condition as a "grunge" prop until I can get it upolstered (if i do...) He still thinks it should be redone to perfection - but I'm unsure and torn between tattered or a dark golden crushed velvet....

That looks like the recliner my daughter's cat likes to use as a clawing post.

If your purchases make you happy, you didn't overpay. :-)

I've got a weakness for old wooden chairs. I've got tons that I've "rescued" from the curb.

That looks like a good candidate for a "Trash the couch" session.

I already have a friend that wants to use it for his teenage sis dressed in "grunge" attire....

But I did email off for some possible quotes to clean it up today.... offered to barter for photography services to help cover the cost >:o)

Great deals! And if you buy the fabric yourself to have it re-upholstered you save quite a bit of money.
