Maybe it's just me, but it looks fake. The scale of the funnel is wrong, as if it were taken from a distance and photoshopped into place. The funnel looks only about 150 feet high on the photo, and there isn't any stuff flying around. There should be stuff, cows and pickups and such, and a few trees. That a low flying, clean tornado for sure.

It looks like her flash went off, as it's reflected in the stop and RR crossing signs.

If I saw that out my front door, even as much as I love and think about photography, I probably would have been more concerned about finding clean underwear.

That's quite a flash she has there. The signs aren't close, but nothing else is lit by the flash. Why?
I think that's the sun hitting the stop sign.
Where are the RR tracks in the photo? If that X is an indicator, they go through some buildings, I think.
Why is that notch in the funnel?
Why is there no debris in the air?

This photograph is part of a snopes article just posted:

http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/iowatornado.asp

Bottom line is that it is a real photograph.. but exactly what it is, that's under debate still.

Well, I guess that explains everything except where the RR tracks are.
