Shipping Problems - 06-16-2008, 05:45 PM

Has anyone had problems purchasing online and they will not ship to an address that is not the billing address? I'm trying to buy a monitor that costs around $1000 and they will not ship to a UPS box that my husband has. We have this box so that we can have things shipped and there is someone to sign for the items. Otherwise UPS leaves the item on my porch. Newegg had no problem sending a $500 monitor to this address but will not send the $1000. They said I had to give my bank the UPS address as an alternate address. I did that and still they could not verify this address. Now I tried CDW and had the very same thing. You can't buy these monitors in the stores. What are you supposed to do?

I'm not sure what you are suppose to do but they are trying to protect you. THey want to be able to send it to the same address that your credit card is sent to. So the infamous credit card theives cant get your number and send it to their PO Box or their address...

I wonder if someone from the UPS place could verify that you rent a box there? I'd call them and ask them if they have any suggestions.

I don't see how delivering it to my porch is a good option - they are willing to do that. They can call my bank and verify this alternate address. I just don't know how I'm going to be able to purchase this thing. You can't go to a store and buy it.

It's been a bad day

I have run into this problem from time to time, mainly when buying higher dollar items, B&H even hassled me once cause I was calling from my cell phone and not my home phone that was listed on my CC account. I know in the days of identity theft that they are doing what they cant to protect their interest.

Maybe you can give the tracking # to your local UPS and ask them to hold it there for pick-up.
