Bulletin I Posted On Myspace - Got Hate Mail... - 06-18-2008, 09:19 AM

Alright Ladies & Gents... Here is a bulletin I posted on myspace mainly for a few people on my list to see with out it being directed to them personaly....
wanted to see what kinda response I would get on here, and see if anyone aggree to where I'm coming from.... here it is

SUBJECT : Skanky and Trashy or Sexy and Classy

BODY:

that is the question....

Some "girls" are not made to be "models"

it's easy to take a picture of a half naked or naked female...

it's hard to make that half naked or naked female not look skanky/trashy....

I for one think a girl can be sexy with out being naked... but hey.... I'm sure I'm wrong....

What is sad is some females are actually beautiful girls, but they get put in the wrong setting, the wrong outfit (or lack there of), wrong pose and that beauty is now just trashy... I don't get it...

so why do people insist on using any girl that says "I want to model" and throw her in a thong and think that they just made something out of this girl.... sorry budddddy... now your just a girl in thong modeling for yet another random guy.

This goes the same for people being Photographers...

I Adrian Wilson am not a Photographer... I am a guy that likes taking pictures... once I have reached the status of a few people I know, (Andy C., Robert Preston, Anthony Reyes... just to name a few...) I will continue to be a guy that likes taking pictures.... I don't get how every other person I meet is a photographer....

PEOPLE JUST CUZ YOU PUT A CAMERA IN YOUR HANDS AND TAKE A PICTURE OF A BRIDGE, CAR, GIRL, BIKE, CLOUDS...ETC. does not make you or give you the right to use "I'm a photographer"... for one it takes skill... passion (which is what most people are lacking...) and the art of photography....... anyways... I'm bored... I'm done... and I'm tired.... WooHoo!

anyways... just being random....

* This Post Is Posted As A Random Bulletin About The Way I See Things, Does Not and Is Not Meant To Be Taken As a Rude, Hateful, Haterish, or a Hateristik Remark Towards Any One Person. So Please Don't Come At Me Like I Just Killed Lassie. K Thanks.*

well you obviously need a lesson in myspace etiquette here. that shoulda been posted as a blog and not a bulletin. then you post a bulletin saying "read my new blog".

that's probably where you went wrong. haha jk jk jk

i completely understand. i can't stand it when i bid a wedding or event(especially when i give a good deal) and they find someone to do it for free....just because they have a camera. seriously i bid a full wedding for $300 for a friend of mine...and he found a "family friend" to do it for free. i was really relieved because i didn't wanna shoot it but for him to turn down the freakin deal of a lifetime still bothers me. who knows. maybe the free photog did a better job than i would have.

and if you ever get on modelmayhem.com then you'll see a million trashy pictures. it amazes me what a girl will do to call herself a "model"...and put on the internet. i ran across a funny picture on there just the other day...it was a self portrait of the photographer with his shirt off in the mirror...he was trying to flex as hard as he could while holding the camera up to his eye with his belly conveniently cropped out of the shot. the rest of his pictures were half naked quasi-attractive women shot with an xt in auto mode. they have to be idiots if they can't see through his facade.

as far as people getting butt hurt...eff em. if they take offense to a general statement then they obviously have problems with something they've done personally in the past. maybe they should stop thinking you're talking about them and stand back and reevaluate what they've done to be ashamed of themselves.

ok so maybe i went on a rant of my own.

Some people like being trashy, or looking at trashy images. Classy is in the eyes of the beholder in many cases. And I'd say that the pros kind enough to share their work in the Human Form section of TPF would argue that it's "easy" to take photographs of half-naked or naked women. To get lighting, skin tones, contours, etc. correct is an art.

The guy is right to a point about "photographers." Capturing an image with some sort of image-making device makes one a photographer, just not necessarily a good one. I had a chicken nugget in my hand the other day, but that doesn't mean I could raise a chicken.

buahahahaha... I agree with basically everything adam said..

I've been into taking photos for a bit over a year but I've never called/considered myself a "photographer". I'm just a guy that likes taking pics and wants to be able to hold his own.

"Just because you can, doesnt mean you should."
I live by these words. Some people dont know their limits.
Sorry to hear that you got slammed on myspace, but then again its myspace. Don't take it too seriously now :)

oh almost forgot. I consider myself a photographer, but not by profession. For personal interest and growth. Maybe one day if I can make more money as a photographer than what I currently do, I might consider it. Don't undervalue your abilities.

Isn't it called "MySpace" as opposed to "YourSpace"
People don't have to read it if they don't like it.

I tell everyone I'm a professional photographer...I'm not...but the big camera fools people. The other day Adam and I were at the skatepark in Allen, and I was testing out his 70-200 lens. Some kids came up to me and asked "who I was sponsoring"...I'm not sure what that means, but I should have played it off and told em I was a photog from DC shoes.

I'll tell people I'm a lawyer, doctor, who cares. If other people wanna call themselves photographers I don't care, it just means they're competition, and must now be destroyed. lol

Oh, and I think the girls that can be sexy without being naked are the sexiest ones.

I call myself an amateur photographer in the same way I call my self and amateur radio operator. The difference is, I am licensed for the latter.

Oh, Eric...don't destroy me. I'm just in it for the good times. :)

Just because it is your hobby, does not mean you can't be a photographer either. Not all great works of art have come from people who do great works of art for a living.

I'm with Tom. Naked is naked.

Seriously though, I know what the OP is talking about, and agree for the most part.
