Well the first big physical step towards building our new house happened yesterday. We got out to Waller at 7am and met the land clearing company, then proceeded for the next 9 hours to watch them rip down 1.5 acres minus the buffer we left on most of 4 sides .. here are a few shots from the day. There are more at http://www.graham-photo.com/clearing/ with captions
first 2 are before from the street, 3rd is the blades of the tractor, and the last is the final result.

good luck with the home Mike. We did that in 98 on 1 acre. Looks like you left some of the trees for the backyard. Will you be going with an aerobic septic system?

So... I take it the last pic is "after?"
If that's the case I'm really surprised they got it that clean and leveled in one day. | | | |

Yep, last picture is the after, he took the shredder blade and ran it 2" in the ground while he was shredding the stuff he dropped .. mulched it up nicely. Septic will be aerobic, much nicer even though it costs more.

I was considering it, but when we got home all I wanted to do was take a shower and relax, that heat really sapped me.

I'm sure the dogs will love the buffer too .. plenty of trees and bushes to go play in.
