Arrow Scrolling issue with Firefox 3 (Windows) - 06-20-2008, 12:58 PM

Since upgrading to FF3 (Windows), I've noticed a jerky effect when scrolling pages that have static background images. This was not an issue with FF2 in which scrolling was very smooth. Anyone else experiencing this? There's mention of it at the FF Support site, but I can't get to the full article.

And when photos are larger than 640x480, it jerks some. Yep.

Just upgraded FF2 to FF3 on my Vista laptop. Haven't noticed any scrolling issues. I'm sure you've checked but just in case....

In the toolbar select Tools>Options>Advanced>General. In the 'browsing' section there are some scrolling options.

The only scrolling issue I have since upgrading is that I can no longer see the scroll bar on the far right. I can still guess at where the scroll button is and click and drag it down to scroll, but I just cannot see it any more. Luckily I do most of my scrolling with the mouse wheel.

Nope, nothing has changed. All I did was upgrade FF.

I've noticed the same sort of thing, but I dont' think I upgraded anything. It seemed that all of a sudden it shows the page, then starts reloading from the top to the bottom of the page and takes a few seconds to get everything loaded...I'm not liking it at all..ready to go back to IE

It's probably going to end up being one of those "system specific" problems that gets address in the next update. At least I hope.

I just installed FF3 on my MB Pro and have no scrolling issues, which is good.

Have you found the problem?
I just looked at the FF3 'Preferences', (Mac)...(maybe 'Properties' in Windows?)...and found a checkbox for Smooth Scrolling. Maybe that not being checked is your problem?????

If you've enabled color management that could be part of the problem as apparently this causes a signicant slow-down in drawing (about 15%). That might be enough to cause problems depending on your machine.

Thanks, Paul, but I'd already checked that. I think that Jeff might be onto something though.
