Surplus Tax Check - 06-24-2008, 01:46 PM

Just curious for those that got their check via US mail, how soon after the mail out date did you get yours? We are going on vacation and going to use our check, just hope it gets here in time.

Originally, ours was supposed to mail on 6-12. I got an IRS form letter yesterday saying we would receive it before 6-27.

the IRS website showed my date as no later than 6-20...it was in my mailbox when I got home on 6-19.

For those who haven't gotten theirs yet or aren't sure they will, you can check your status here: How much and when?

We were to get ours on the 20th, and it was in the mailbox on the 20th. Just wait until you get the letter from the IRS and it should follow close to the date! Other people in the Dallas area that I've talked to said that they got theirs on the exact date also. I can't believe we've had it for a week and not spent it yet! It could've been the positive pregnancy test telling us to hold on to it for a few months, lol.

my hubby did the taxes wrong so we never got one. I put in a review to the IRS and should be hearing back from them in a couple days, if not I'm calling them. Mine is already spent as soon as I get it. It's all going towards paying off the car.

For married couples, I don't know if this is typical policy everywhere or just Bank of America, but the check is made out to me and my wife, so we both signed it. I took it to the bank yesterday to have it deposited in my checking account and they wouldn't do it...they said my wife needed to be present also to verify her signature. Be ready in case it happens to you too.

That may just be a branch or teller issue. I use BOA, and the same branch 90% of the time, and that has not been a problem for me.
I always go inside for my business, and most of the tellers know me.

Mine is not due until July! 9x number.

You were just going to deposit it in your account (not cash it) and they still wanted your wife present? Is your wife's name not on the checking account?

I looked up the schedule on the IRS site, and mine is supposed to be mailed by June 27, but I haven't received the mailing notice yet. I just paid them a quarterly payment back on the 16th, so it will just partially replace that money, so I guess you could say I already spent it too.

I use BOA military and they're cool with me. My husband isnt here 90% of the time and I use my POA a lot. Half the time they dont even ask for my POA anymore because I'm there so often.

Yeah - I am in the last batch (8 as my magic number). Still no information on the website, but I guess as it gets closer to the day, we will see the information online too.

Thanks for the info about BOA. That who we bank with, my wife isnt on my checking account, so I will take her along with me to deposit it.
