For Travelers outside the USA

I saw this article this morning. I know some travel outside the US for business so FYI. It seems to be very much up in the air who the DHS selects to inspect.

I travel all over Europe for business and I have found that most of these issues are only with the .00001 percent of travelers. I have never had issue with all the electronics that are in my pack or cards. Once out of the US customs is virtually non-existant other than the x-raying of the bag. In fact in Vienna customs is a door you walk through after going through passport control. I should also add that the agents are minimally trained and a few IQ points off a rock. So if you do get stopped friendly explanations of the items in kindergarten terms will get you through. Be cool and most of the time you will get through.

With that being said Dulles has the worst Customs EVER!!! I fly through Chicago almost always.

Can it happen? Yes. Does it happen? Like Ron said, basically, no. I just returned from Spain with two laptops, a Photobank, cameras, and cards. I am usually returning from Russia, never been looked at over the years. There is no problem.
