We are leaving for vacation in a couple of weeks to visit family in NE Washington State. We will see them for 3-4 days and then have the rest of trip (approximately 4 days) to wander around. Having never been to Idaho myself and loving landscape photography, I think there are lots of possibilities. One thing I did notice is that the western entrance into Glacier NP is only 5 hours from Spokane (where we fly into/out of). I have a real bad habit of trying to cram in too much to see but we've never been to Glacier. Part of me thinks we should save that for a trip in and of itself. The other part thinks, "Why not?" For those that have been there/done that, what do you think?

I'm actually going to Seattle, Spokane, and then to Idaho next Thursday.
It's a working trip, so no time to sight see. I'll try to pick up a brochure or two and report when I get back... best I can do for now.

Thanks Jay. I'd really appreciate anything you can find out, Tom! Business trips aren't so bad in pretty areas.

Well !! It's a photo assignment, so I'll have all my gear, and will just HAVE to get some photos other than for the client......

Sand Point is definitely on our list. My FIL was there a few weeks ago and said that I HAD to go there! Have fun and let me know what you think.

Debbi, save Glacier for a trip in itself-too gorgeous to rush.
Here's a pic.

Thanks, Therese! Beautiful pic. We'll probably go ahead and drive the scenic route thru Glacier (maybe, still don't know) but will then definitely have to plan a full trip there.

Back in the 2 years before 9/11 I spent about 2 months in Spokane (but broken up into 4-5 day trips - all work related)
When I had time off (more than 2 hours or so) I would go visit Couer D'alene Idaho - beautiful country.

Yep, that's a mighty pretty drive. There are some serious mountains in Northern Idaho, and just driving through them is very impressive. When I drove that route back in 1986, the expressway wasn't quite completed, and actually turned into a dirt road for a while. Definitely a summer time trip.

Have fun!

Thanks, Brian and David! My husband has actually been thru Couer D'alene a couple of times buying trucks so it's definitely on the list and so close to Spokane. It will be a fun trip.
