Looks like Sirius & XM are wanting a merger and are waiting FCC approval. |
I've had Sirius radio in 2 different vehicles now and I'm telling you I don't think I could do without it.
Hunting for radio stations on road trips is a thing of the past. Commercials? they don't exist. Have a specific taste in music? There's bound to be numerous channels to accomodate you. They've got everything from 50's music to todays top 40 hits, You want to listen to hip hop, soal, jazz, classic rock, hair metal, heavy metal etc etc etc...Talk radio? I listen to the NFL channel all the time.
The Sirius/XM merger has been in talks for well over a year, almost 2 I think at this point. It's actually weird because XM stock was almost triple Sirius at the time, but at one point it wasn't a merger so much as Sirius was buying XM.
I disagree in the idea that it's a small niche market, I think it's actually rather large. There are some people who will never pay for their radio and that's fine, but there's a large majority who will and do. OTR Truck drivers are HUGE advocates of it, and love it.
I love my Sirius radio, and I realized how much so when I went to FL without my car and had to drive around a different car for a week. Wow, how horrible it is to constantly have to listen to commercials, listen to DJ's, and listen to random crap and static. Then you have to constantly hunt for stations while driving down the road. No thanks! My road trop to Tennessee to visit family at Christmas I didn't have to change the station once.
