This is a unique USB card in that it also has U3 embedded on it...
http://www.u3.com
That lets you assign a password to secure the drive...as well as run applications directly from the device (independent firefox, irfanview, open office, several other utilities). You can essentially plug it into any computer, and have certain applications available to you without having to 'install them' on the person's computer...and when you eject the drive, it will 'clean up' any residue left (temp files, etc...that were not stored on the drive)
Given the size of modern digital files, it doesn't take much to fill up an 8gb drive.
From a business perspective, anything you would burn on a DVD to present to a client can be done via this drive...including showing slideshows or movies of the job you've done, or a virtual portfolio, or carry / access your pricing, cost sheets, etc...
The benefit of the U3 in this situation is that if you 'leave' the device by accident, none of your data is accessible...meaning if it was used to do proofing or something, the client couldn't get to it without the password.
As prices go down on these, I can see thumb drives replacing CDs / DVDs as the method of software and presentation distribution. Some software in stores is already available via this method.
It's a great marketing tool as well...as you can buy thumb drives with your business name and logo on them...
