Tell me about it.

My wife and I just got back from Krogers & Randells. The oranges were pretty nasty.

go with the season -
oranges are not in season.
Enjoy those summer fruits that we can only get now and save the oranges and apples for winter.

I'll bet you'd be able to find some at Dallas Farmers Market.

Wes beat me to it. I have always had good luck at the Dallas Farmers Market....even on the "not so in season" stuff.

And they're willing to let you "try before you buy".

Yup. They almost always have people standing around with a piece of fruit and a knife. They'll cut off a slice to let you try it before you buy.

Naval oranges, my favorites, are in season in December. My family has had the tradition of putting one in our Christmas stockings (along with other goodies, of course).

Market Street in Colleyville usually has really really good produce year-round, though. With a global economy, many fruits and vegetables not normally thought of as in season are imported from where they are in season. Sure, it came a long way, but it's there and delicious!

Heck, I'd just like to go down there to make pictures of all the fruits and veggies. :-) And pick up a few while I'm there of course.
