I think the kid singing Johnny Cash is more impressive. Kids this age normally sing higher and sound better so I think it's tougher for a kid to sing low. His vocals were a little pitchy to, but that's alright dawg. Welcome to the dawg pound!

You guys really thought he was pitchy? Well to be honest, I wasnt really impressed at all by the 15yo for a couple reasons. First, and don't scold me here please, but I absolutely hate Johnny Cash...for the fact that, I think, he was musically bland, just another rockabilly/country singer acting a fool on stage and being thrown in jail...and second, he has no range...a good singer has a wide range...meaning they can hit up to 3 octaves either way with perfect control of tonality and usage w/, I might add, accents to pitch...Here is another video of Declan where the song calls for a high octave, I have yet to see another kid control their voice as he does, especially around 2:44-3:13. Although I dont like this song all that much..

I would expect a much more mature voice from this kid. Way to high still, give him a year or two it will be much much better. IMO..

I was actually joking when I said he was pitchy because that is what Randy says about everyone on American Idol. I do think that he isn't special because of his voice. You say a good singer has wide range and I would say that every kid has this kind of range because their voice hasn't changed yet. There are MANY kids all over the country that sound at LEAST this good. To deny the talent that it takes for someone as young as 15 to have a developed ability to sing bass is to overlook that he really couldn't sing bass until his voice changed... maybe 2 years at most and from listening to him he really hadn't worked on his bass vocals. The first kids voice will change hampering a lot of his range while the 15 year old isn't hampered by that.

Also, he does have range just as Johnny Cash did. When a bass goes low it seems you don't equate that with range? He goes pretty deep and goes pretty high for a bass. I think it might be a case of you don't like Johnny Cash for whatever reason so you have decided not to like him! YouTube Vince Mira as he has more than that one song. Hopefully he will be around for a while.

Haha I cant believe I didnt see the Randy line at first...even with dawg at the end. As I agree that bass is much needed in music, I cant help that I dont like it by itself. For example bass guitar, is used for fill, and not to be played in Lead or rhythm guitars place. Although I know some blues and funk have it out front, for vocals it's down right displeasing to the ear. I dislike Johnny Cash because he sounds the same in every one of his songs, which to me shows he has no range. If he cant express it in his performances then he is musically bland, not only that, he was a poor guitar player. It amazes me that he got such a huge fan base. I have heard quite a few kids sing, and most kids at the age of 8 - 15 are tone def and hold no interest in music...and not once have I heard anyone better at his age.

It's music. Just like photography, beauty is in the eye (ear) of the beholder (listener).

Forgive me for getting off track on here, but...
Personally I don't think these girls are tone def, and I know that they hold an interest in music:

But I may be biased towards these kids...

Ok W/E you guys think...maybe its just me, but he must not be too bad if he has already released 3 albums...not to mention have the priviledge of recording with some of the best producers and engineers and studios in the world. Besides that...another reason why the Vince Mira kid or whatever his name is, is not impressive...he is impersonating someone elses style...the kid needs to develop his own style....thats like me going out and shooting like Ansel Adams...how original would that be? Do you think Ansel or any singer got where they are by copying off of someone else?

P.S. Don't get style confused with covering a song. It's all in their personal rendition.
