This is why I don't use Flickr. Actually I never felt like having an account there, but if this is true, this just gives me a good reason to know why I'm not on there.

Wow, that is interesting. Makes me think on if I am renewing my pro membership. But I suck anyways, I doubt anyone wants any of my pictures.

The title is actually a false assumption. Flickr does not own your photos. They merely allow anyone to view them, and hence copy them, just like any forum or place you post them would. If it's on the net, it's copyable.

The people that used the API did it in direct opposition to Flickr's TOS and were the ones that attempted to, and in some cases did, steal photos.

Also - it's why I only upload smaller files at a 80% jpg (at the most) and usually watermarked, to Flickr.

I still think it's the best gig out there for people like me --

I'm still at that stage where I think my photos aren't worth anything to anyone but me.

The only reason I use flickr is so I can view my pics on my TV through ATT Uverse. But they are just Websized files I upload. And all my pics have my siggy on them.

I have about 5k of photos out there on my account... but they are framed, logo'd, and I only upload 400x600 ish size 72dpi images....

yeah they could be stolen.. but they won't look good printed or as a screen saver or anthing like that

A good rule of thumb - never upload high res version of your work to a 'freebie' type site, or any site, if you can help it.

The only websites that I upload high-res version to are Mpix and Millers.

Sounds like good advice...I may have to re-do Picasa...Ben
