I have a P&S camera (Canon Powershot A650IS) instead of a DSLR and I downloaded the Panda IEXIF 2 software when someone posted a link to it awhile back. My camera allows me to shoot in TV (shutter) or AV (aperture) priority modes as well as Program mode and some different scene modes. I've been experimenting in the different modes as I take photos lately to learn how to use them better. (Esp. the AV mode--I need to get a better understanding on that one for example and what settings work best in what situations with available lighting and etc.) ---before I even think about buying a DSLR camera.
When I look at the photos on my display screen on the back of my camera, I can see if the photo was shot in AV or TV mode when I hit the display button. I learn setting feedback ie: did I choose a good f number in AV mode for the time of day I shot the photo, etc because I want to learn instead of using Auto.
After I download my photos to my computer, I don't remember what photo was shot in which mode & I was going to put that info in my photo file name; only I can't seem to find that kind of info in the EXIF information. Am I looking in the wrong place? There is a line in the EXIF called "Metering Mode" but every single photo says "Pattern" on that line instead of "AV" or "TV" or "Program", etc. The EXIF information does tell me the numbers (value) for the shutter speed and aperture as well as the ISO speed, F number, exposure time, if the flash fired and other info. Unfortunately I cannot tell (or remember) which setting that I set for the photo since the camera sets the other number. (If I set the F number in AV, the camera sets the shutter speed or vice versa.) Some photos I can tell I set something "wrong" but how & where can I find the shooting mode I used so that I can learn from my errors? Please advise.
Do I HAVE TO write down this info for each photo I take when I am experimenting & trying to learn or is there a way to find my shooting mode after my photos are downloaded to my computer? Please advise!
Thank you!!!!
