I tried to sum up my question in the title. I am relatively new to photography. Been pressing the shutter button with some forethought to the shot for about a year now. At first, I stayed away from taking photos of people. Frankly, people scare me. They are complicated, and I definitely do not have the courage to walk up to random people and ask them if I can take a photo of them. Problem is, as I gain confidence in my own ability, I feel more capable and more curious about taking photos of people, candid or portrait. I like to share my work on flickr.com and on JPGmag.com. Most of my work up to date has been landscape and some abstracts. If I took any photos of people it was uploaded under private and then family and friends can see it. (Only people I know personally have been given that status on flickr). Now, the real question, how can I share my photos online without jeopardizing the people I photograph in some way. I find people to be very dynamic and their facial expressions and movements quite commical at times. I am super paranoid of people having images of them misused or stolen and used for something inappropriate. (BTW, I am talkin candid and portrait photos, NOT glamour). Is my paranoia unfounded? Are there precautions I can take to limit the damage done by a photo I took to the subject while still sharing what I saw and tried to capture. Sorry if this was a giant ramble, I hope my question and situation behind the question came across clearly. As always, thanks for your time. |
